Common Futures Conversations

In these terms and conditions ‘we’ refers to Common Futures Conversations and ‘you’ or the ‘user’ refers to the registrant.

Registration and privacy:

Contributing to this community requires registration. Certain information such as a username and a valid email address is mandatory. Please note the username you select will be visible to other community participants and that by registering, you are agreeing to disclosure of such personal data.

User behaviour:

The Common Futures Conversations community is an environment where everyone is welcome. We are a diverse community from a wide range of backgrounds and with different opinions and interests. Everyone in the community should have an enjoyable experience and feel comfortable sharing their views. This means that if you are questioning someone’s ideas, be careful that you do not offend them or hurt their feelings. We may often be talking to each other online but remember that there are real people behind their usernames.

While participating in the community we ask that you respect the following rules:

  • Engage with at least one Challenge per round;
  • Observe the Code of Conduct and refrain for any abusive or harassing behaviour;
  • Respect the privacy of other users by not sharing their identity beyond the platform without their consent.

We reserve the right to revoke access at any time and without notice to this community if you violate any of the rules.

User privileges:

Users can upload ideas, contribute to online discussions, join webinars and online events, contribute to the CFC Blog, watch events through the #CHLive page, and pitch offline event ideas to the ‘CFC Local’ event series. Depending on their level of engagement, users may be invited to attend Chatham House events or conferences. Users will not have the right to make any structural changes to the platform, but they will be asked for their feedback periodically.

Links to other websites:

Chatham House is not responsible for the content of external websites to which users link. Links to external sites should in no way be taken as an endorsement of their content.

Use of material:

Each individual idea submitted to the community is the responsibility of the author or co-authors. The ideas of other participants must not be plagiarised, copied or re-submitted. Collaboration is encouraged, but co-authorship must be agreed upon before the submission of an idea.

The ideas and discussions produced on this platform may be used by Chatham House for future public outputs. Permission will be sought from the specific participants involved before any sharing takes place. To ensure the community is an inclusive and open space, do not publicly share any information which could identify an individual (be it their name, email or social media handles) without their express permission.

External events convened by Common Futures Conversations (i.e. expert webinars) that are held on the record may be recorded for future public outputs and broadcast to outside audiences. Any event held on the record will be clearly identified as such at the point of registration and reiterated by the chair at the start of the event. By participating in these events, users grant their permission to their contributions being publicly archived. As always, Common Futures Conversations will strive where possible to enable users to participate anonymously in these events.
